  • not allowed to render to ".vrmap"

In the Vray "rendering a walk-thru animation" tutorial it says, in part 2 "calculating the irradiance map" render every 5th frame to file...to a file type of *.vrmap. When i go to render every 5th frame i must save it to file and must choose a file type. There is no option for the vrmap file type and if i choose "all formats" under the "save as type" and then make a.vrmap the file type in the "file name" window, i get an invalid file type notice.
So....my question is, "How does one save to a "vrmap" file type?
    Thanks in advance.

you dont set it in the regular filesave area. instead untick save file there, tick "Dont Render Final Image" in the VRay Globals and set your irrmap to "Autosave" and enter a Filename in the Irrmap rollout.

there is nothing in the tutorial about that, it just says save it but doesn't tell you how and since it's my first time at this my mind reading powers have never been too strong...maybe next time my psychic powers will be stronger.
