  • Proxy crash

I have a single frame I'm trying to render for print.. The client purchased a fairly hi-res model off of turbosquid that was already set up for Vray.. I loaded it, attached all the parts to one mesh, then exported as a vray proxy mesh.. I deleted the original model, loaded the proxy mesh, re-applied the multi-material, and duplicated it about 30 times..

However, for some reason the scene won't render and max crashes..

try duplicating this model as a reference/instance as opposed to copy.
Also if you want the model to be a copy (which it doesnt matter really) you can switch to dynamic memory, that should also help.

Ack! You know, in fact I did instance all the copies instead of just copying them. I knew this would be super memory intensive, so I was hoping that would help (only load the model once)..

Where is the dynamic memory switch?

      Thanks!

      So much to learn..

system rollout on the Render panel

just up the limit till it renders.

I raised the limit to 2000Mb, but it still crashes.. The Vraylog.txt has this at the end:

error: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Irradiance map thread
Last marker is at P:\dev\LocalVSS\vray\vrender\src\vray.cpp, line 1318: VRay::getMaxBgColor()

also 3gb switch is something to look at if you are still having issues.
Read in vray general forum about it.

yeah your still running out of memory.. mmm aybe you need to decrease the dynamic memory.. try something really low like 200mb

but yeah 3gb switch may help.
