  • license and vray server

i have a strange problem. and i think it´s no vray issue, but maybe someone can help me anyway.

the vrayserver is running on our server. we have 4 licenses. each workstation has no problem in getting a free license. just my laptop can´t get one. same network, same setup...even with firewall off etc. i can´t get a license. maybe because of two network cars and wireless in the laptop ? confused by mac adresses ?!? i tried to re-install max and vray, no chance. maybe vray write a hidden log fiel somewhere.

    any ideas ?

    thanks

can you ping the license server from your laptop?

Check to make sure you have all firewalls turned off... including the built in one in Windows XP SP2

For some AVs and FWs turning off is not working...for example NOD32 you need to explicitly exclude max exe etc from imon and amon to make it work...even if you EXIT nod it wont work

You might be out of licenses then... try restarting the license server.

I am having the exact same issue. Brand new laptop...4 licenses available and my laptop exhibits the same behavior....no licenses are currently check out. I even killed the license server and restarted it. Still no luck.

Make sure you don't have a hardware firewall, some network cards do.

This typically means that the connection is terminated forcefully - either by a firewall, antivirus program or something else.

@Elf : working like a charm here....just had to add both the vrlserver and 3dsmax.exe as exceptions in BOTH imon and amon
