  • Gamma correction and Opacity maps

    I was running some tests yesterday to try to get the Linear workflow to work for me on a exterior scene using the Gamma correct colour mapping method outlined in the LWF threads.

    Every time i rendered this i got these spots on this tree. So i tried isolating this tree,same again....I then tried merging just this tree to a new scene, same result

    I then tried it on about 10 different trees All Opacity Mapped Leaves, and it still does this....
    The scene is just 1 direct, Enviroment ticked and the tree model which is using Vray Mats. I tried all combinations of GI aswell.

    Anyone got any idea what is going on here?

    make sure you have crop ticked and turn down the blurring on both your bitmap and opacity maps (atleast on the opacity maps) to its lowest which is 0.001

    Try that and see if makes a diference.

        Abit better but still there, crop was tick anyway. only managed to get the spinner of the blur as low as 0.00999.

          Try changing the filtering to "None" in the bitmap rollout.

            Are you using the color correct plugin?

              Nope that doesnt fix it.
              THe only way around it for that vray build (1.48.02 and 1.48.03) is to tick "affect background" in the color mapping rollout.

              THe problem doesnt seem apparent in the much newer builds (1.49.xx)

              Must be some sort of bug with those builds.
              Funny thing is tho.. if you tick "view clamped colors" in the VFB it only shows the spots!! So i thought maybe I could try ticking "clamp output" but that didnt help.. just changed the colors of the spots..haha

              (jow sent me a sample of the scene)

              <edit>
              no color correct plugin
