that s the point i did not ment to sound anywhere that close....i guess i ve expressed wrongly...i don t see why soo many stones have to be throwned....?

let me refraise, irmap is a biased qmc. So it will produce caustics. But they will be far from correct, therefore not illuminating.
And you need to show me the caustics from irmap, im interested in seeing those.Dmitry Vinnik

All using IR/LC except where noted on the cups renders.
Pretty sure all renders also used a direct light setup specifically to create caustics.
