  • proxies pathes

all my proxies are located on a linux based computer which is map drive as z:
all my bitmaps are there as well.
but still i get some render nodes rendering the images whithout proxies (they do find all the other resources - bitmap + photometric)
all the proxies are located at zroxies
    what is the problem?
    thanks

May be because of the proxy(s) file sizes. So trying to access one and the same file at once from several nodes, may cause that.
Do a test with a local pack of copies on each machine, see if that works.

and if that works i will have to copy each new proxy i make to all of my nodes ...
i think that i solved it by replacing the max.ini file on that node.

Another issue is that mapped network drives can disconnect. You're better off using UNC path names. I used to have 3 computers using mapped network drives and was always having problems with bitmaps, proxies, and saved irrmaps being missing. Since switching to UNC, I've had no problem with 15 machines.

I gave up having all of the files on a centralisation location - it just doesn't seem to work consistantly with DR. Just put them in a common location on each machine and write a batch file to automatically update them.

          net use t: /del
          net use t: \\vraynode2\c /u:vray *
          *PROMPTS FOR PASSWORD*
          xcopy c:\vizfiles\*.* t:\vizfiles\ /I /D /E /H /R /Y
          net use t: /del

Where vray is the username. Just duplicate that in the batch file for each pc. Funky! :P

thanks for the replys . Dynedain I will try it if i'll have more problems.
Dj you're methood is good as long as you have <10 comps , when you have larger render farm it will couse you diffrent problems .

                  Any other solutions?

I have the same problems, but I think it is only 1 or 2 comptuers that don't want to load the proxies.

I had a similar problem with some of my nodes rendering the vraymesh proxies and others rendering the real vraymesh. haven't had time to figure out why it was happening though.
