  • Shadow color and density problem

    Hi,

I have an exterior scene that I have lit with hrd skylight and one directional light. Shadows are too dark and when I change the shadow color or density it has no effect on the shadow when rendered. I tried with shadow density 0.01 and still pitch black shadow. I am using exponential color mapping. I deleted the light and created a new one but still pitch black shadows. If I turn off the shadows that's working ok. Any ideas what could be causing this? I am using vray shadows.

perhaps if you post your image we could help better. But usually lighting scenes with hdri is not a good idea. And if your shadows are too dark, its related to the gi bouncing.

Here's a small crop from my preview animation. In that pic shadow density is 0.01 in the directional light and qmc bounces are 12. I tried with gradient map in skylight and same result. Light blue color in the skylight rendered just abit brighter shadow.

My bad. I forgot I had tuned down the reveive GI on my ground material. Thats why shadows didn't get brighter no matter how much I raised GI bounces. It's working now great. Silly me
