  • Lighting problem...with IES?

I'm having problems with my lighting.
The first image shows how the lighting looked before the problem.

As the scene developed Istarted getting darker erndering (seen in the second image).

It almost looks as if there is no GI being calculated.
It seems that there was a thread about potential problems with IES lights and Vray, but I can't seem to find anything on it. It may not be rrelated to IES lights, I'm not sure.
To try and isolate the problem, I tried turining off all lights, and turn one on at a time to find the problem light. Once I "found" it, I deleted and rerendered the scene and it was still doing it.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I had a similiar problem
    look at this

try playing with lc samples , tun them down to 200 and see if it still happanes.
make sure that your ies files can be found over the network.
rjw also had this problem and in his case it was a vray light plane that intersected with another max plane.
    Hope i've helped

Well it looks like it was the LC sudivision settings.
They were set at 1000, I replaced all photmetriclights with Vray lights only to have it happen again.
The only ay I could get it to render correctly was to turn LC subdivisions down to 500.

Doesn't make any sense. Too many samples = dark renderings. but its working
