  • One tree causing LC slowdown

I have a very large scene that contains a fair amount of high poly trees which are all proxied. I was getting 5+ hour LC calculation times (single frame and animation) so I went digging and found that ONE TREE was causing the problem. Turned off the tree and calc times were down to about 35 minutes.

So my question is this. Might the proxy be corrupt somehow, or is there something I should avoid when making the trees? (btw, the tree is only about 300k polys).

I haven't encountered that specific problem, but I have discovered recently that when I make my trees Vray proxies it slows the render time down by at least 2x. I only use proxies if there are memory problems, otherswise I try to use lots of instances and display as box.

Try re-doing the proxy file again, saved under a new name.
See if it makes any difference.
