  • Blue dots

This is a new problem I've started seeing in some of my renders. I'm getting blue dots. I remember the red dot problems and how to fix them, but this seems to be something different.

(The purple flash in the sky is due to a limitation with the VRay sun/sky in 1.49.24)

have the same problem, except mine are white and not as many though.
my guess was to increase the Hsph subdiv in the irmap, turned it up to 70, but did not help.
Now I am trying to render with an extra pass in irmap.

but now I remember there was an issue with the color correct pluginn, hope that that is not the case here, because I use it all over the place (not in hdri though)

let me know if you solved it and how.

    good luck,
    Bart

I am not using irrmap or the color correct plugin.

QMC + lightcache, color mapping: gamma correct 1/.454

Any SSS, or raytrace materials in your scene.

Also have you tried rendering it without vray sun/sky, as that may very well be causing the problem.

                  No SSS or raytrace mats/maps.

Not using the VRay sun/sky would pretty much defeat the point of the rendering now wouldn't it?

Well yes... BUT... you said the purple flash was due to a limitation in vray sky for your build. purple/blue flash.. and now blue dots... me thinks they are related.

Try it and see what happens.

Turning off the sky still results in blue dots. Turning off the VRay Sun however eliminates the blue dots.

Well there ya go, its just sun spots causing your problem. Just dont render during a solar flare and your golden

well i had a feeling it was one of the 2, as the dots follow the sun as it passes thru the room, mostly.

i experienced this in a test animation, but found that if i unchecked clamp output, the error dissappeared. I was getting a blue-ish patch similar to this at early morning / late evening times.

Having clamp output checked or unchecked is not affecting the blue dots.
