• colored dots because of selected sub-object

hi

i don´t know if this was reported before, but i will let you know...

had some problems you can see in the picture with red dot in the hedge...
reported was a overbright error of the element in the facade and some following overbright errors...
as i looked at the material it coul´d not be a problem of the material....so i had a look at the object...and there was a sub-object selected (active) in the editmesh modifier under the uvwmodifier ...

after deselecting the faces the problem was away...this bug is reproduceable!

hope this helps someone

Ahh.. I wondered why that used to happen somtimes. I collapse everything down to mesh or poly now though so it hasn't happened for a while.

Makes perfect sense to me.
Vray doesnt like things to not have proper UVW mapping co-ords.

So by having and editmesh modifier which was active with only a few faces selected then the whole object would not have been properly UVW mapped and thus causing the splotches.

And after deselecting the faces the UVW map would have been properly applied to the whole mesh and therefore... no more splotches as you can now see.

heh, I missed the part that the subobject was "active" now if it wasn't that would be a problem, I was getting ready to write a script to deselct the faces :P

@ ene.xis

Actually I would have thought something like that would have shown up in the vray log.. something about a certain object not having proper uvw coords.

Hey hey, is that script ready for deselecting sub-objects? Man I could really use that now.

thomes, would it be possible for you to send the problemmatic part of your scene to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can take a look at what's wrong?

Best regards,
Vlado

I might be able to dig one up, though this is an old thread just wondering if anyone had a script for subobject or knew of one that would collapse everything in the scene. Have not been able to find anything.

I think a difinitive post on red spots might be in order.

Vlado, although this thread is really old.
It was just a problem with the faces be selected improperly.. read my first post. Not the fault of vray, t'was easily fixed.
