  • vRay displacement modifier - render problem

    Hy There,

I modelled a mainboard for a computer. For all the small parts I put a displacement modifier on a simple plane with a highres picture (4800x3800px). There are also many different maps in the scene.

If I render on my local machine, no problem.
If I render via [net render] on our farm, the map is sometimes there, sometimes displaced, and sometimes all (!) the maps are missing.

This makes it kind of hard to render. Any idea for a solution to this problem?

    many thanks in advance...d.

3 options: 1) Make sure all your maps are pathed via UNC (best way) or 2) all located in a shared folder where all render machines can see them or 3) all saved locally on each machine

      sure,

we are working with maps on a file server and therefore the paths should be correct (UNC). But I figured out some drive letters, which smuggled themselves in, because of windows OS. I hope that this was the error... if not, I´m coming back

      thanks so far...d.

Yes, Max 8 will default to UNC (see File->Asset Tracking) but I don't think it defaults automatically for all maps, like Vray HDRI or vray displacement map, and certainly not for IR and LC maps (.vrmap & .vrlmap).
