  • Proxy and Displacement

Hi all, I am sure this has been discussed before, but I'm unable to find any pointers.

I have 166 buildings which need to be included in one scene. Each one is textured with several displacement maps representing tiles and bricks. I had intended to use the Vray proxy to import them all into one scene, but then I lose the displacement mapping.

What is the best solution to keep my poly count low but still allowing the displacement maps to show, and having all 166 buildings?

    Unfortinantly you cant have both.
Some solutions may be, to use bump map instead of displacement if its subdtle. If displacement is major then try using max displace modifier and bake the geometry into vray proxy.
But thats about all I can suggest. Proxies are limited in many regards, and this is one of them.
