  • Outline around 'sun' in some renderings

I'm sure its just a setting i'm missing, but with generally default settings there is a harsh outline around the sun when seen from the physical camera.

Pretty much expected when trying to anti-alias across a huge dynamic range, but not exactly visually pleasing

and the obligatory sexy teapot animation: pots.mpg

You might want to turn on "Sub-pixel mapping" and "Clamp output" options in the color mapping rollout. That should get rid of the issue.

Note that this would only happen if you use AA filters with negative parts. These are usually sharpening filters like Catmull-Rom.

May i ask one thing, Vlado, about filters?
Would that halo go away if he used simply NO FILTER whatsoever, with a qmc AA and unclamped output?

Yep, it will go away. It will also go away with any other filter that does not have negative parts (e.g. Area etc).

now that i think of it, what about a tag change Vlado?
You might get it back later (before 2.0), but for now a more celebrative one would be apt, imo

You mean change the default values for the color mapping options?

I think he is talking about this "The bug hunt continues... If you find a bug - report it."

See as 1.5 is out.. the bug hunt shouldnt really exist as such.
