  • material problem with pflow and vray

    I've got a pflow system and I want to assign materials to each particle with a "material static" operator. the operator allows you to specify whether the particles are assigned a material id per object or if they get materials assigned by their original mat id's.

    ie with the switch on I can have a pflow system of cubes that assigns a material to each cube. with the switch off the cubes get materials assigned by their individual faces.

    this works correctly in the scan line renderer. It doesn't work in Vray!

    the only way I can get it to work is if I send the pflow system out to a mesher operator.

    I'm using vray 1.5rc2 but the same thing happens in older versions

    Anybody have this problem?

    For technical reasons, V-Ray has to rebuild the particle flow mesh itself from the information about individual particles, and cannot use the mesh that PFlow itself generates. I've tried to match the results as closely as possible, but apparently I've missed some specific cases.

    However, if you send me some simple example scene so that I can test this with it, I'm sure it can be resolved quickly.

            Heres an example we ran across the other day.

            Basics: The randomizing of material ids in pflow doesn't work anymore. Works fine in the 1.47.03 (last one we used) and doesn't in RC1, what using now.

            Wrong: rendered in vray, material isn't randomized.
