You still need to set up the license server connection the same way you do on your workstations. Even if it won't engage a license to render, it still checks to see that you ARE a licensed user.

    http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...structions.htm

Refer to #2 of "Installing distributed rendering (DR) for 3dsmax R4/R5/R6/R7/R8"

Oh, I see it .... so, I cannot copy my own 3dsmax folder and past it on all the slave computer (they already have max 8 with Vray 1.47). I must install Vray 1.5 on all of them

If I understand clearly .....Here I have a renderfarm of nearly 100 computers. Right now, I only install 1.5 on 10 for testing and because it's an RC version. So, if one night, the computer that have the license server stop for any reason, all the jobs on the network will not work ????

      Not very usefull

It's a point. That's why I run the V-Ray licensing server on our file server -- if that were to go offline, our renders wouldn't have anywhere to go, so licensing is the least worry.

If you read "Configuring the V-Ray renderer on a workstation" it says that the client auth settings are saved in a vrlclient.xml file -- it's possible that simply copying that file to each machine's install will do it, it's located under Common Files\Chaos Group, so simply copying the max install will not suffice.

I'd recommend reading the entirety of the installation and licensing portions of the 1.5 manual. I did that today before installing and haven't encountered any hiccups.

Still getting the 'cannot obtain a license' error

Still getting the 'cannot obtain a license' error on a few of my servers.

I followed the changing license instructions going through Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray for 3dsmax > Licensing > Administration > Change V-Ray client license settings.

I've tried the computer name and also tried the IP address where the VRLserver is located. Verified that the VRLserver is up and running.

Previously had Vray 1.47 working on these servers, then installed 1.5 along with the no-dongle patch on the servers as well.

But still getting the license error. Help me

            Thanks in advance.
