  • Big render crashes

I've got a gigantic file that keeps crashing on me at rendertime (VRay 1.52). I can render the trouble-areas just fine by region-rendering them but I can't render the thing as a whole .

I was having trouble earlier in the week (before the client wanted more crap added), but I was able to get around that by messing with Dynamic memory limit and bucket size and also by letting Backburner render it.

None of those tricks work now. I've tried messing with the Max. tree depth, and face/level coef., but nothing seems to work.

True, I only have 1 gig of RAM, but I really don't have a lot of bitmap textures. I don't have a local place that sells DDR2-400 ECC RAM (to match the stuff I already have) and I don't have time to mail-order it.

    Can anyone offer advice?

    Thanks much.

Try split scanline rendering (render stripes) in Backburner.

have you tryed rendering using the Vray Frame Buffer, and rendering to file?

      If not try this....
      goto vray frame buffer,
tick - enable built in frame buffer
Un tick - Render to memory frame buffer
      Type in res of image
Tick - render to vray raw image file
      TicK - generate preview.

this will render a larger image but will render it to a file and not into a frame buffer (which uses stacks of memory)
