  • Max crash on loading of old Vray scenes

    3DS Max 8 wth SP3
    Vray 1.5 RC2

    When I load a scene created using an older version of Vray, I get the notice mentioning this and alerting me to potential changes since the last version of Vray. No problem.

    However, if I do this same thing, but move to using another program (it doesn't matter which) while Max is loading the older scene, Max crashes. It appears that Max MUST be the program primary and in front of the screen while an old Vray scene is loading, otherwise Max will crash.

    Anyone else have this issue? Or can replicate it?

    It also happens even when we don't switch but tak "too long" to click ok.

      I'll check this; in the meantime, you can disable this message by typing

      setVRaySilentMode()

      in the maxscript listener. You can probably make a small start-up script that calls this automatically when 3dsmax starts.

        BTW - scenes, created with old VRay (1.x) doesn't show this popup.
        I just can't seem to trust myself
        So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?
