  • Found a new error message? Task Error: pmat.cpp #992

So, I'm rendering a bunch of scenes tonight and I encountered an error on one of my scenes. I'm not sure what the cause is yet, but I can't find any info about it anywhere.

I'm doing a Bacburner render with vray. No GI, fairly low settings, and camera motion blur. All 20 render slaves are spitting out the following message:

    ERR Task error: pmat.cpp #992

I have 5 different cameras in the scene. I'm submitting the exact same scene to the farm 5 different times, except using a different camera and a different output filename. Everything else is the same. I'm only getting the pmat.cpp error on one of the cameras. All other cameras render fine. The camera is nearly identical to another one that renders fine.

Anyone see this before? What is it?

    Follow-up:

I found the problem. When using VRay's Motion Blur, you can't use the Limit To Visibility option in Itoo's Forest plugin. If you have the Limit To Visibility option checked, VRay first throws a warning:

warning: Object 'MyForest' has changing topology, can't motion blur mesh deformations

VRay then attempts to render the scene. It properly motion blurs most of the forest even though the warning said that it can't. (odd, if you ask me) VRay then encounters one or more trees that it has problems with and then it throws the pmat.cpp error and the render fails.

I don't know if this is something that can be fixed in VRay, but it would be nice to be able to render with the Limit To Visibility enabled, as it can drastically reduce the number of polys in the scene.
