  • Multi Colour Splotches

Could anyone please tell me why I'm getting multicoured splotches on my renders. It seems to happen more on reflective surfaces.

    I'm using version 1.47.03

you can show an image so we know what your talking about however sounds like raytrace map or material involved somewhere

take a look at this thread, it gives links to some free host, where you can upload your files.

Finally have somewhere to host my image without being blocked at work.

I seemed to have narrowed the problem down at bit i think. The animation is 4000 frames so I am trying to save the vrmap (multiframe incremental) every 20 frame over the length. It seems to be related a bit to anything with reflection but when the solution for the vray starts to reach the end of the animation the dialogue box reports errors of overbrightness on loads of materials and then when rendering using the saved vrmap it renders out like the attached example???. If I then render that frame in single frame mode it comes out fine. really baffled.

raytrace materials are not compatible with vray. use either the vraymaterial or if your using the raytrace map the vraymap

Sorry, I am using a vray material with reflection but i'm starting to lean towards more of a memory issue, since it only happens when computing a solution for a vrmap using multiframe incremental on a number of frames. Is this an issue with vray?

u can test i t for ur self:
use a vraymaterial in the overridematerial slot rerender and see for ur self!

1 thing is for sure vray does not go well with raytracing materials!

can you provide a sample of the scene that exhibits the issue?

I'm thinking percy meant the actual scene file not just an image...

Yeah he was talking about the max file itself.

Are there any errors in the vray log file.
It really does look like you have something incompatitble in there. But assume you are using the material override properly then it doesnt look like its a material problem atleast
