  • Backburner...cant obtain license

At our office we have a dongle containing two licenses. I also have a dongle with my own personal license. Sometimes I bring it to the office
and use it along with the other two licenses. Works fine. The problem that I am having is that after submitting jobs to backburner for the weekend,
saturday night the computers errored out saying "cant obtain license". I am not sure why this is happening. I run VIZ2007 at home and I use backburner with out the dongle plugged in all the time and never get this
error. And the office dongle was plugged in all weekend, but I took my personal dongle home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Mike

If the renderfarm is trying to obtain the license from your personal computer, and your personal computer disappears... well then....

The licensing on the renderfarm may just not be able to look for a different license server if the initial license server disappears.

Thanks for the reply. What is strange is that I thought that once the job was submitted you didnt really need the dongle plugged in anymore. I
have been bringing my personal dongle into the office for 2 weeks now. I
have backburner running at home without the dongle. The 3 computers
at my house continue to render frames all day without the dongle.
Im now wondering if mabey the computer that hosts the license server and dongles at work rebooted for some reason.

      Regards,
      Mike

Edit...both dongles and license server were on the same office computer.

Or the rendernodes themselves may have rebooted.
