  • URGENT: creating a 2nd vray camera makes Max crash...

We are up against it producing an animation.

I have decided to use vray physical cameras as I can control exposures nicely.

If I create a vray camera in a scene, it defaults to being a targeted camera. I don't want to animate a targeted camera so I modify this camera and untick 'targeted'. Fine.

I then create a sceond vray camera, and here the option to have a targeted camera is greyed out, so I must create a 'target-free' camera. So I click on the screen and it creates a camera looking straight down.

If I then try to move or rotate this camera, Max crashes. This happens every time on all of our computers.

    Please help.

(did I say this is urgent??? )
    Kind Regards,

    Confirmed. Crashed for me too.
So, don't create phy.cam with unchecked "targeted" Clone your existing cameras.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

I have discovered a possible workaround: that is to clone the original camera and Max no longer crashes. Also, saving and closing max after each time you create a camera seems to work, but this is hardly ideal.

Can someone confirm it is a bug?

Vlado - can this be sorted?

Or you can link it to dummy. Rotate it and move...

OH! Found a way - link it to dummy (in my case it was a box) and then it works. No more crashes. So you can rotate, move your untargeted camera. You should move not a dummy, but your camera, don't know if it works when unlinked.

Kinda temporary workaround... But, it's annoying... Hope it helped.

So this is corrected now for the next RC.

            Best regards,
