  • rQMC sampler - Noise threshold

    Hello,

    please help me to understand:

    the manual says:
Noise threshold - controls V-Ray's judgement of when a blurry value is "good enough" to be used. ... A value of 0.0 means that no adaptation will be performed.
Does this mean that a value of 0.0 is something like switching the sampler off? Could this be an explanation why some of my blurry reflections flicker?

I tried to enter an extremely small value - like 0.00003 - and max inserted 0.0. I thought, well, this is the smallest - best value ...

I am trying to render a brute force animation with moving objects. everything looks fine execept one reflection. I found some other errors in the forum, like reflect-subdivs set to 3 ... arghh.

You cant set it that low because MAX is restricting you. In the preferences you can set the decimal place for spiiner.. that should help you out

The flickering glossies might just be not enough subdivs. Or possible even your AA

      Thank you.

I read about the "decimal place" - maybe I should take care of it. As it is really annoying. I usally just use natural numbers.

That is the drawback of mixed language environments:
The trackview only accepts "." while the rest expects "," combined with the spinner precission this resulted in 0.(,)0

I rised the subdivs for my material. Together with global subdiv multiplier and a treshhold above 0. This fixed the problem.

My original question seems to be more "language based":
"A value of 0.0 means that no adaptation will be performed."
Does this say: " A value of 0 switches the sample off" ?
