  • [1.5RC2] why this line?

    Hello,

in my neverending struggle to compensate 10 years of non-photorealistic rendering I stumbled over this line:

The light is comming from lamps like this:

I tried all I can imagine:
    • I rised all sorts of multimpliers and subDivs
I switched between IR, LC and QMC
I tried various AA with various settings
I removed and/or moved the lamp shade
      ...

Here is the scene file for further reference: http://proforma.preset.de/vRayBoard/...rdg-q_line.max

Please help me to understand my failures.
Please help me to understand where this setup went astray.

I'll take a stab in the dark and say its an issue with your modeling.

Delete that single wall and remodel it with a spline/extrusion, see if that helps.

      This is the result:

Now I got this splotch, too.
The splotch isn't reproducible and only occured once with IR set to
      'High'.

I think I found the solution:

The spots to the left where hidden during my debug process. They rendered anyway. I didn't know that.

If I switch them off the line is gone
So I have to check why this little spots cause this line.

        ** edit
They are modeled the same way as the lights at the ceiling:
Box -> Editable Poly -> Bottom Face Inset and inward Bevel
Placed a Vray-Light in this deeping.
        ** edit

        Thank you

I still don't know what it was,
but I remodelled everything and now the line is gone:
