  • Max 9 64-bit VRay 1.5 - DR not working

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with Distributed Rendering. The VRay license is running on a 64-bit version of XP, 64-bit Max 9. Two servers are running 32-bit Max 9.

When I try to render with DR, the VRay message window says

Server 111.11.1.57 Scene loaded. staring render
    Server 111.11.1.57 Starting frame 725729
(Shouldn't the starting frame be 0?)

    Then it says:
warning: Render host unknown (111.11.1.57) is not responding

and the rendering servers don't do anything. I'm pretty sure the servers are loading the scene, but they don't seem able to start any rendering.

I've checked my old Max 8, and DR works with that. I can't save my current scene down to ver 8 now, though...

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I searched the forum and couldn't find what I wanted.

    Thanks guys

    George

The servers are 32-bit, but what is the client machine?

64-bit client, 32-bit servers. Is this the problem?

I remember trying that over here and it seemed to work; will do some more tests.

        Best regards,

Thanks for your time on this, Vlado.

I've done some more tests, and even starting the render from one of the 32-bit machines doesn't work, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the combination of 32- and 64-bit OS's.

I've started a new topic with more details here:
