  • Problem with specular

    Hello Vray Team

I need some help in this scene.

The specular of the material is seen in the reflection of it, but not in the material itself! I would like to know if it's a bug or if the settings are wrong.

I'm sending the (jpg) file attached.

This is happening in other scenes and with differents materials as well.

    I'm waiting for your reply.

    Thanks.

    PS: I used Vray 1.50 RC3

Since the specular is just reflection, you can't expect to view two surfaces from different angles (from the camera and through the reflection) and get the same specular effect. If you rotate the camera, you will get the specular effect on the directly lit part as well.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

But as it can the object appear to specular in the glass reflection and not to appear in the material ????

Because the reflection basically changes the angle youre viewing it from - the render is correct.

try moving your sun to a more offset position, instead of right behind your camera.

I just reproduced the effect. Makes perfect sense what vlado is saying. Adjust your sun so your specular isn't hitting that exact surface normal in that exact fashion. Will make for a nicer image anyways IMO.

                      Hi Daforce

When i said that i do not agree I wanted to say that I do not agree to the generated effect

I did not find certain this the glass to reflect an element with specular, when in the element I do not appear to specular I

                      I know the Vlado…

I have a license of the program of it

buuuuuuttt i dont agree with efect...

                      Tks 4 all

look for the blue element, do not have specular.

But in glass reflection, show the specular....

                        Its i dont agree....

Its not so much disagreeing with vlado that got me, its disagreeing with reality.

Go find a similar building with the sun round about the same position and take a look.

                            I have my doubts…

Iit can be the image do not show right because you finding strange…

I believe that the glass materials of the Vray R3 are with problem…

I am having problems in internal scenes, any glass that I make, (egz, simiam, vraymtl) the VraySun does not cross light, this generates a wrong shadow

I'm show the image and the wire

                            Best regards

                              Works fine here,

what type of shadows are you using? It will only work with vray shadows.

Also there was a known issue where affect shadow will not work in a multisub mat in RC3
