  • unhandled exception!

    I have never had this problem, not at this resolution. I have seen similar errors when rendering large resolution output, but this is different. And even a small 800px test render crashes. Here are the errors have been getting:
    "Failed to allocate filter tables for this bitmap. Not enough memory. This bitmap may render incorrectly. Subsequent errors will not be reported."

    What the heck are filter tables?

    "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Memory allocation failure xxxxxxx bytes requested: xxxxxxxx bytes allready in heap. Last marker.....

    Filter tables are helper structures that the 3dsmax Bitmap plugin uses to perform texture filtering.

    Since the problem is that you are running out of RAM, here are some options:

    (*) Use 64-bit 3dsmax 9 with 64-bit V-Ray;
    (*) Follow the tips on this page: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...ooting.htm#ram

    Best regards,

      I will add a 3gb switch to that.

        Also if you are using "summed area" filtering on your bitmaps it uses 400% more memory than if using none or area.

          thanks, I'm making some adjustments. I've been searching and I can't seem to locate the bitmap filtering options anywhere.

            its in the actual bitmap, where you select the texture to use. Below is options for filtering.

              Looks like area filtering is defalt. I have never changed that.
              Also, the 3gb switch doesn't work on my machine. I know that's a whole new topic. I check that thread for answers to that. Several things happen. The system slows way down for 1, and 2-it didabled dual monitor use. It just makes the same thing appear on each monitor. In the display settings I don't even have access to the other monitor. And the resolution of the monitors is limited. Like I said, I'll have to check the 3gb switch thread and see if there are other ways to type the 3gb stuff in the boot.ini.
              The thing that sucks is, I never got these memory allocation errors until the vray 1.5 switch. I thought 1.5 was supposed to be better with memory? Don't get me wrong, I am crazy about some of the new changes such as the 2-sided material (Ilove that one), but if I can't even render the scenes, what's it worth?
