  • cant get rid of splotches/noise

    Hello all,
I'm stuck on this one. I've searched the forum for splotches but the threads I found seemed to be different problems than the one I have. I at a loss on how to get rid of the splotches/noise on this particular piece. It wont go away. I tried changing the materials settings, removing reflections/glossies, enabling/disabling cuastics. I tried higher IR map presets but that only makes the splotches more dense. The image below is IR+QMC at a medium preset. I tried IR+LC and QMC+LC all this did was make the splotches very dense.
I believe it is vray related because if I switch to scanline all is well.
Could it be a promlem with the geometry?
    Here is the scene: http://www.vrayelite.com/forum/problem.max
    thanks for any help

I dont have max here so I cant check it, but, seems like it may be a problem with geo. Try exporting it to obj and then back to max see if that helps.
Also try rendering it with direct light only, see if there is any issues with it, check the normals, see if they are correct.

You have overlapping coincident faces. raise 2ndary ray bias or remove faces.
