  • c3 vertex color bug?

Working on ocean at the beach. I use vertex color map to fade out the water at the beach.

Since going C3 - the transparent part overlapping the ground is turning black.

I have tried everything, and really think it is a bug?

is your refraction/opacity within a multisub material?

No. Vertex color only in opacity map.

could you show your material setup and maybe a render?

Ok ok. Here it is. Same settings and materials and setup - only difference is the update.

Again - just a vray material with vertex color for opacity at the sand. Used to have nice opacity change.... now it goes black were the object is in front of ground at the transparent area.

          ??
Has nothing to do with shadows.

there are some specular differences between the 2 images.

there is this known issue "Affect shadows" and "Affect alpha" options do not work for VRayMtl's inside a Multi/subobject material.

And to me thats what it looks like. You have changed any of the object properties or changes the direct light not to cast transparent shadows?

send me part of the scene if yuo can and I can help sort it out better.

              This is not a multi-sub.

Assuming thats the exact same camera and location it also looks like your mesh has moved/changed from the first render.

As a test try dropping the water material (where you have affect shadow ticked) into a vrayblendmtl as the base map with nothing in any of the coat materials and render again see if that helps.

Or as CJ said, share a basic part of your scene so we can have a look at it.

Ok it is the fog color.
Anything less than 255 and the vertex opacity goes black.
