  • Background through glass

I cant seem to figure out how to get my background image to show up bright enough through my glass. I am using exponential color mapping,
and affect background in NOT checked. Of course if I hide my glass then the background is fine. What am I missing here ? I dont want to have to
do it in post, this is a very tight deadline, and I have quite a few animations to render. Any tips would be great.

    Regards,
    Mike

mike, put the map you are using in your env slot in the env slot of the material and turn the output of the map up to say 50.

I went through the same issue today.

      second that.
Especially if the lighting is done through sun+sky, and the shot's taken through an exposed physcam, LDR bitmaps used as refmaps will be near black.
Sun + sky are heavily HDR, and you're exposing to that kind of lighting.
So pumping up madly the BG bitmap will bring it back into range.
Do not bump the reflection above 1, though.
That'd lead to artifacts and longer rendertimes.
      It's no bug, though.

Thanks for the tips....Ill give it a try.
No physical cam on this project. I just want to be able to see the
cylindrical environment map through the glass from inside each interior space.

        Thanks again.
