• [RC3] dongle and license server

Hello,

I don't know if this is a problem.
Before wrecking my setup I dare to ask here:

Is it possible to use a dongle on different machines?
I want to install vray in this way:
At home the dongle is attached to my workstation.
If I am en-route I want to attach it to my notebook.
But returning home the note book should recognize the workstation as licence server.

The documentation says that there is
<Change V-Ray client license settings>
but this is not installed ... I cannot find it.

Maybe there is a commandline way to change the clientsetting and I can use a batch file to change from dongle to license server?

regards,

Georg

The exact command for changing the license server is in the "Start Menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray for 3dsmax > Licensing > Administration > Change V-Ray client license settings":

If you want to do this from the command line or a .bat file, the command would be something like:

Code:
"c:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\3dsmax R8 for x86\setvrlservice60.exe" -server=<server name or IP>
Best regards,

vlado,

I think I reinstall vray.
I search all harddisks for setvrlservice60 but It is not there.

I know it was before installing rc3 ... because I used it.

Do I need to install both hardware and software licencing on my notebook to switch between dongle and software?

regards,

Georg

I reinstalled, but it is not there.

the whole Administration part below Licensing in sthe start menu is missing.

In order to get the Administration part, you need a Hardware (dongle) installation. Otherwise (software license) that part is not installed at all.
