  • DR and Vray 2sidedmtl

    1.5rc4
    max 8 sp3
    dual xeon winXP

I'm having a problem with DR and the max Rendering>Environment>Background.

If I leave it as the default black, DR is fine.
If I change the color or use a map, one of the slaves usesblack as the BG!

Using the same HDRI for vray env override and max background, and DR is fine. If I use the HDRI for the vray env override and vray sky for the max background, I get black backgrounds again from the slave.

    I'll post images asap

    Thanks a lot!

Hmm, strange...after more testing it seems that the problem is related to
the vray2sided material and distributed rendering. This happens in any scene where an object is assigned this material and then rendered with D.R.
The same scene renders fine without DR. It also is fine with DR if I switch the material to a standard mat, double sided, self illuminated. Can anyone confirm this?

We would try to reproduce this right now.
A ready scene would help a lot if any of you both can send it. Thanks.

          Nikki,

Thanks but I guess it was a network problem. The same scene is working correctly now. I think my router was not communicating correctly with my modem, so the pcs were dropping their i.p. addys

          Thanks

            update

Hey, sorry for mixing this up, but this is still a problem.
I cannot post scene because it's client's. However, it happens
in any scene, simple or complex, where a Vray2sidedmtl is used.
Again, the issue is I beleive DR and the 2sidedmtl...
If I use a different material instead, the DR works great!

            Thanks again,
            JR

Vlado, Thanks for the instant response! I had license errors show up
complaining about an invalid license on the 2 DR computers. Should I just ignore these? They are called license request form.

                  thanks again,
                  JR

                      update

Well, thanks for helping vlado. After more testing of the scene, I still can't figure it out. I think it is not caused by the material after all!
                      I'll repost when/if I solve this.
                      thanks again
