  • Camera correction problem when network rendering

    Hi...

We are experiencing a problem when rendering cameras over network with the camera correction modifier applied.

The camera modifier is rendered correctly on first frame but on the rest of the frames it it is ignored, rendering the sequence without the corrections

    Anyone experienced this?

Which V-Ray/3dsmax version? Does it render correctly locally on a single machine?

A work-around could be to use a V-Ray physical camera attached to the original one, with exposure and vignetting off, but with a correct "Vertical shift" parameter.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Sorry, we are on Vray 1.5 RC3 and problem seems to happen Max8 and 9 but isn't consistent, which is weird.

      Example:

We have rendered out an interior scene w. cam-correction - over network - no problems. Then we render out the background for the same scene - same maxfile, same camera and the problem occurs. Cameracorrection is ignored after frame 1.

Will try the Vray camera solution, though - if we can align completely.

Make sure the frame range in the Max viewport is set to the length of the animation

So you are saying if the timeline length is 500 frames and you are only rendering frame 0-100 in your animation, this problem can occur?

No, I am saying that if you are rendering 1-100 and the range is set to 1-10 then V-Ray will only recognize the animation in frames from 1-10

Sorry for being slightly confused here - the max viewport range you are talking about - is that in the 'Render Scene' dialog common parameters or are you in the 'Time Configuration' dialog.

              - or do you mean that if you are rendering the Active Time Segment 0 To 500 and the Range is set to 0-100, Vray only calc's the 100 frames??

Thanks for taking the time to explain...

It's when the time configuration dialog is set to fewer frames than is set in the Render Scene dialog.

When this happened to me, the camera was animated from 1-500, but I had the current time configuration dialog at 1-100, and when I rendered 1-500 the camera only moved from 1-100, so I think we're speculating the same is happening to you with the camera correction modifier.

Also, this is pretty huge.....you cannot have your cameras hidden if you are using the camera correction modifier. If the camera is turned off, it will not apply the camera correct during animation.

Tim, you might just have hit the spot... we tend to hide cameras, didn't know that affected the correction modifier.
