I´m working on a project that heavily utilizes vray displacement modifiers. On occasion (mostly detail shots) vray starts to unload geometry from the scene while rendering although there should be enough memory left - taskmanager shows ~1.5 gig usage for max.
Since this takes very long, frame times are more than doubled from about 25 minutes to over an hour. Not good.
The scene uses static memory management, in which case, as far as I understand things, vray shouldn´t unload any geometry at rendertime at all. I tried 3D and 2D displacement mapping - no difference. Only solution so far is switching off unnecessary displacement modifiers from scene to scene, which is a real pain in the neck for 20+ different camera angles...
