  • Walls rendering transparent in isolated areas

    Hey folks --

I hope someone here has seen this variety of glitch before, because I'm getting it now on two completely different projects and am having a hell of a time isolating it.

I've outlined the glitch in these renders. Basically in these isolated areas of the wall meshes, it's partially seeing through to the geometry/environment map beyond. I can't explain it, the walls are simple polies and are not separated in any way where the glitches are occuring, and I've tried remodeling them and giving them thickness to no avail.

Other things I've tried that haven't eliminated the error -- applying default gray v-ray material, turning off all lights (including environment light) in the scene. Hell, I've even rendered it with no lights, GI off, and a default gray v-ray material in the override slot, and it's still there.

Has anyone seen this before? I'm having to fix another animation in post, and this one was supposed to hit the farm tomorrow night...

    Thanks!

It is a relatively rare problem in rc3 specifically; you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com for a fix; otherwise a solution would be to rotate your model ever so slightly along one axis.

    Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks Vlado, I never would have figured that one out... I'll give the rotation a try and email you if I can't straighten it out.
