I am working on quite a complex interior scene of a restaurant - quite a few lights, quite a bit of geometry, quite a lot of vraymeshes (2 types, all instanced), a bit of displacement. I am using Max9 64bit with Vray64bit on an XP 64bit system. I need to render the image at 3960x2200 pixels and am using DR with other machines on our network that are also running 64bit XP and Max9/Vray etc. The machines are all either quad-core (single processors) or dual dual-core machines with 4GB ram in each (all Intel).
I set the render going and the LC and IRmap calculate successfully. The render then begins and due to the long render time, I either leave it overnight or leave my machine unattended until it completes. I instruct the file to be autosaved to an OpenEXR format. I have tried this on three occasions, but when I return Max has crashed and is waiting to send a report to Autodesk. Unfortunately, I have not told Vray to autosave the solution.
Any suggestions anyone? Whilst calculating the LC/IRmap, the Ram useage never got more than about 1.6GB or so. This is quite urgent as I am up against a tight deadline.
I hope you can help.
