  • problems with dual quad 64 bit

On my new computer (dual quad core intel 64 bit) Vray 1.5 rc3 with MAX 9 refuses to do full renderings. It calculates lc and irradiance but then it gets stuck. Only 1 of 8 processors is still 100% busy, but the rest is down and nothing much happens. I have to cancel the process.

On other occasions it gets stuck somewhere halfway the irradiance map, only 2 processors are busy, the rest is down. No way to cancel the rendering. Cancelling the process is the only option.

I work with xp64, 8 gig of ram and a USB lisence key.

I've strugling with this for a few days now, needless to say that I seriously need to get going with this new computer.

    What could be wrong?

        No, that's not it.

Might it be possible that Vray has problems obtaining a licence from the WIBU key? I just noticed that it is only 32 bit. Could this cause a problem with 64 bit software? Does Vray look for a licence server at the beginning and the end of rendering? Or does it do that at arbitrary times?

        Some answers could be helpfull.

There is a 64bit runtime-kit for the WIBU key (version 5.20) on http://wibu.com/download_user.php...maybe that helps...

Thanks, I will try that out.

I'm now running a session with MAX9 and Vray 1.5rc3 on my dual duo computer (or was that a dual hyperthreaded computer, is there a difference?). So far it runs ok.

            Will keep you posted.

Is there anybody else having a dual quatro computer running Vray on MAX 9?

Yup.....All is well ...except for a couple of minor issues with file link and the panorama exporter.

Yes, the 64bit WIBU kit seems to do the trick. So far everthing works like it should.

                    Thanks for the tip!

Hmmm...You mean do I have a dongle...Nope....Still using server I guess....emailed the code to vlado to get key or whatever...Sorry.....

Server means that you can have one license and ten installs of vray ....BUT only one can work at a time right. We have three licenses so far. So Iguess local.

Oh...DId a NEW service pack come out...I installed the SP1 that was here linked two days ago and still the same thing....But I have reinstalled it 3 times when I was trying to get vray to work thefirst time. For some reason the path was the 32 bit program files directory and I never saw it....DOH

not the productivity booster, just the normal max9 service pack 1 fixes the issues with file link

Is your machine from Maqina (Dual 5355) ? How noisy is it ?

My machine is a local clone and to my request they made it very quit.
Much more so then the dual duo machines from a year ago. I'm, now, very satisfied with it.
