  • noisey glossies

I've tried the subdivisions multiplier for a glossy with .7, but i seriously cannot see any difference between 20 and 80 divisions, besides massive render times. (im thinking this might have to do with the lighcache secondary settings, i use IR for primary)

i noticed the rQMC sampler render settings for global subdivision affects the quality, and the noise threshhold seems to work, but why doesn't the material setting itself seem to work? this setting affects light cache calculation times too, or is there where i need the extra samples to get smooth glossy effects...

what settings affect the quality of glossy materials?

Any of the settings that affect all the QMC calculations.
Try and check, first, if it is really the glossies having troubles, by rendering without GI.
Fix them so, in case, and then add GI and see if anything goes astray.
Changing the rQMC sampler has a cascading effect on many other areas, so it should be used very wisely (when everything else fails, in other words...).
