  • Duplicate to MAX frame buffer

When I render to the VRAY frame buffer and duplicate it ot MAX's frame buffer the images are not the same. I used to be able to duplicate it so I can copy the pixel color. What would cause this?

if you have gamma correction enabled in max, then the max vfb will display gamma corrected images (but will save them uncorrected unless you override the gamma value), while the vray vfb will not display them corrected, unless you specifically make it do so (like checking display srgb colors, or applying a gamma correction curve).
if you gamma correct via color mapping, then the cloned images in the max vfb, will look double corrected.

yep what rivoli said. To add to that cant you just get the pixel color from the VFB?

Quick way around it is to just turn off max gamma while you get the pixel colors you need.
