  • DR Problems : Viz2007+VRayRC3

    Hi all,

We encounter troubles with DR. Viz2007+VRay1.5RC3
Slaved pcs can't load render files (maps, irmaps, proxies...). More, some of them are not included in the render.
Our network is in Gigabit, all running with WinXP except the fileserver in Linux.
We do not encounter problems while rendering animations through Backburner, and even if that it was unstable, DR have already worked.

    Thanks for your help.

    OK...
When I use one single path for the textures, it works.
But no success for the proxies...
    Thanks for your help

Are you using mapped drives or UNC path names for the textures?

If V-Ray does not find a proxy file in its specified path, it will look into the 3dsmax Bitmap paths, so maybe you can make sure that those are set up properly on the slaves.

Not sure to well understand... Why Vray don't find the proxy while it's there, well located ? And how it can working fine on animation rendering with different maps folders and proxies all set as mapped drives ?

Anyway your advice is to set all external files in one single folder with its UNC paths instead of mapped drive. That's it ?

            Thanks for your help

For now, it's getting much better with a single UNC path folder but... some PCs don't calculate or even, load the same irr.map on object having differents GI properties (Receive GI from System Panel).

This bug disappear when you put a MtlWrapper on these objects.

                Thanks

the only time I ever encountered this issue was when I was NOT using UNC for all maps, saved GI, etc.

(( EDIT: I take that back...I think I had this problem one other time when I cancelled a DR and immediately started a new one up and didn't give the nodes a little time to catch up. ))
