  • Vray 1.5RC3 64-bit compatibility issue with Vista 64-bit

    Hello Vlado,

i was going to install the latest stable Vray 1.5 RC3 for max 9 64bit on Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I ran the installer and i got this message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows youre running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or x64(64bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

is there any workaround to this at all?

i have checked again and i am really trying to install the 64 bit version of vray for max9...

    can u help me please?

thank you very much in advance

    best regards

    Martin

looks like vista is not recognising the install package as 64bit application or the other way round...

Soooo.........whats the scoop on Vista64 & Vray - do they work together ? If not, when is it planned that Vray will be 'out of the box' compatible with Vista ?

i thought it was the general consensus on this forum that vista is a terrible idea? especially since max9 and vray didn't work properly with it? (besides other reasons)

V-Ray seems to run fine on Vista; the only trick is to run the installer with Administrator privileges (either by right-clicking on the .exe and selecting Run as Administrator) or by disabling the UAC (user access control) feature.

thanks for the info. together with the "Productivity" pack for Max9 this means Max9 + Vray should be a "Go" as far as Vista is concerned.
