  • maps and material drive

Up untill now I had all my materials on my c drive, but it became filled up pritty quick since I am using 10krpm WD 150gb. I installed a seagate 7200 rpm extra drive (SATA) and called it y drive, put all the maps and materials there and gave a test run.

two exatly the same files except the only differnce is one has all it's materials mapped to the c drive and the other tot he new y drive.

the file with the materials on the c drives takes about 20 mins for the light cache

the file with the materilas on the new drive takes about 9 hours.

    driving me crazy and suggestions???

    I'm suing MAX 8 with vray 1.5

I seriously doubt its anything to do with the drive.

I assume they are both NTFS formated?

If the scene is simple enough do you want to share it and I can take a look. As I have a C and Y drive I can compare with as well.

did you manually change the maps in max to y or did you just use the bitmap paths?

        I don't think this
s is the issue. I think it is somehting else and now the light cache freezes up towrds the end.

is it possible that is it png files causeing it.
