  • Proxies and Shadow Maps

I just noticed that proxies do not work with ShadowMaps, I don't use them all the time but when there is a lot of lights it works well to fake area shadows in a faster render time. Any chance of getting them to work together?

    Ah rtfm... :P

Shadow maps will not include information about the proxy objects. If you want the proxy objects to cast shadows, you should use V-Ray shadows.

I think it's because to calc a shadowmap, you have to load the object before the render starts, defeating a bit the purpose of a proxy, loaded only at the time the bucket needs it (more or less ).
The only way those could go together is if there was a vray shadow map that would get calculated on request, at the moment a bucket than needs it fires up, rather than before the start of the rendering.
