  • simultaneous spawner 8 and 9

Not so much a problem as a request, but is there anyway we can get vray spawner for both Max8 and Max9 running on the same slave machines? We have various jobs - some Max8 and some Max9 - which we need to DR, and it means having to continuously check and change which spawners are active. As far as I can tell, having both running at the same time causes problems.

Added to this, is there anyway from DR slaves to only take part if they are not busy doing other DRs or strip renders or normal renders?
    Kind Regards,

While you can not have both spawners running, you can probably use the fact that the max9 spawner can be used to render max8 scenes as well; V-Ray does not place a restriction on the actual 3dsmax version on the render slaves, so long as they are able to open the file and render.

A slave will not take part in a DR if it is already busy with another DR job, but it has no direct way of knowing if there are other 3dsmax copies running (e.g. for backburner renders), although this can probably be implemented somehow.

So will DR buckets switch over to a new DR job when they have finished the job they are on? In effect, can DR jobs be 'queued up'?
