well all your settings are pretty much overkill cept for your hsph subdivs. Try boosting to 100 and see if the splotches go away. if they do, lower it some and keep test rendering until you get a good quality/rendertime.

        The chiefs? doubtful

try -3,-1 for your irrad map and .94 .05 for your qmc. Also for stills, I frequently dont see much of a difference between 500 LC samples and 1500. I did a test once with an image, one at 250, and one at 1000, put them into photoshop and did a difference layer for them both. It was nearly completely black, only when I did a contrast move was I able to see some white coming through.

Once you get that cleaned up, fix up the AA problems with the sun on the floor.. might need to tick clamp output so the AA can work properly, and maybe add just a dash of area shadow.. might need to increase the size of your sun a jot, then that render will look pretty sweet

Pillows are a tad shiny tho.. leather pillows?

Percy, mind if i ask why the .94 and .05 for qmc (i assume for the adaptive amount & noise thresh, correct?).

because its just been what I've used from time to time. Really depends on the scene. Sometimes I use .96, .015, whatever works.

Thanx all...I will try those today....Leather Pillows?? There's a joke there somewhere.

The sun on the floor. What exactly does AA do? Will it make it a SOFTER light or feel?

well you can definitely take advantage of Adapt Subdiv on this type of scene, so i wouldn't change the image sampler type, but you definitely need to increase the sampling. I would use a Min value of 0 and a Max value of 3 or 4. Test a Clr thresh value of 0.05 as well.

If you want to remove those splotches, I would increase the IR interp. samples first. I think you'll find that this setting will have the great impact. I recommend starting with a HSph Subdivs value of 20 because this can greatly reduce rendering time and if other settings are adjusted properly, you won't have those splotches.

Yup, sun size multiplier (dosn't affect the intensity)

                            Here is a small update

Rendering time about 9 minutes..... Did all the settings suggested...PLus played with the lighting a tad....added displacement to the rug...

Inter Samples set to 100 and Hemi set to 100

hmmm...interpolated samples blur the irrad map, so I wouldn't go above half your hsph subdivs unless you have a really good reason to.
