  • Caustics & HSV

This an example of caustics created with vraysun:
Caustics: mult 1, search dist 4 cm, max photons 250, max density 0,0:
The problem is that in HSV exponential mapping caustics are less visible in confront to Reinhard color mapping which looks nice & sharpen
I've been trying diferent solution with HSV but result is the same...

Reinhard color mapping: mult 1, burn 0.25, gamma 2, sub & clamp unticked

HSV exponential color mapping: mult 1, burn 1, gamma 2, sub & clamp unticked

Special thanks to DaForce for nice caustics....

The problem is that the caustics are the same color hue like the bottom of the pool, just brighter. When you apply HSV color mapping, it simply brings them both down to a very similar level of brightness, so the caustics get lost among the pool bottom.

Perhaps you could get around it by cranking up the caustics multiplyer, so when they do get brought down its not as noticable.
      I would certainly try that.

        Thanks for comments
Here is few example with caustics mult 2, 5, 10 and last with mult 1 with black pool wall

        caustics mult 2

        caustics mult 5

        caustics mult 10

caustics mult 1 - black pool wall

Inceasing caustics mult i get only color overburns close to...
So it would be not recommended to use caustics in pool with HSV exponential color mapping?!
I think that I must switch to reinhard color mapping to use pool caustics...
but this is the problem because I am just adjust color in HSV color with client...

Well, I can only think of to make the sun maybe more yellowish, but of course that will change the colors too.

Just take the pool from the first image and Photoshop it in?

RErender@...yes, I decided to work with reinhard color mapping and tweaking color in PS, but HSV color I love it...

id use reinhard mapping and then just up the saturation a little bit in photoshop. As that looks to be the main difference to me.
