  • Disappearing objects

I've been working on this project for a couple of weeks off and on. And it has been rendering just fine. Then yesterday, two of my cameras stopped rendering certain bits of the scene. Whats odd is that the bits render in the other cameras, just not in two views that are close up. The bits in question are a vrayproxy tree, vrayfur grass, and some pieces of an xrefed building model.I've tried deleting the proxy and fur and recreating them and also tried deleting the camera and creating a new one. None of it worked. I still got the same render results.

This is how the view should render with a vrayproxy tree and vrayfur grass on the left. (note-this has a different building scheme)

This is what started happening yesterday. The tree and grass do not render in this view. There are also some pieces of the building that are not rendering, like the red balcony fronts. Whats weird is that little bits of the vrayproxy tree render, but not the whole thing.

This is the same file from a different view. The trees, grass, balcony etc. render just fine. If you look closely you can see the tree and grass in the back on the far right.

And to make things weirder. I disabled all the xrefed scenes and rendered this:

The tree and grass are there during the light cache calculations but disappear during rendering. And I double checked the objects properties and vray properties to make sure they weren't matte objects.

And if I turn on just the tree and grass objects. They render just fine. ???

      Weird.

Any errors in the vray log?

Nope. No errors in the log.

After working through a process of elimination, by turning off groups objects I narrowed the problem down to a group of 24 palm trees that are way off camera. When I turn them off everything renders just fine. Again, what is odd is that I can leave everything on for the other views and I have no problems. Its just this close-up view. Weird.

Note: The missing red balconies have been fixed. User error. A layer was turned off in the xref. My bad. But it still doesn't explain the missing tree and grass. They are both vray objects (vrayproxy and vrayfur). And the offending palm trees are also vrayproxies.

Try without the fur and see if the proxies render. If yes, then the problem is in the fur (what are the parameters of the fur btw?)

          Best regards,

I've got something similar happening on a project I'm working on here. Notice how the lampshades disappear on some frames....

            http://ftp.tskgroup.co.uk/~tsk3d/Test05.mov

The frames were rendered on the farm and I'm guessing but I think the bad frames were all rendered on one node. I've deleted the Backburner job now so I can't check.

looks similar to what I had once, think that was a memory problem.

if there are VRAY proxies in the scene and that machine can't see the network or can't get licensed you will have this sort of problem, check the machine to make sure it's spawner is running properly and can see the network paths.
