  • Textures rendering blurred

    Hi

I am having this strange anomolie whereby some textures render blurred.

The image shows this but the blurred textures on the geometry are at quite an oblique angle but, it happens on all of another piece of geometry whether it is at an angle or not.

    Has anyone seen this before?

I'm rendering at 6000x4000 pixels for specific reasons but, surely this wouldn't affect the textures?

    thanks

Turn off Max's Built-in Map filtering (set Filtering Type to "none" in the Bitmap 's rollout)

      Hi Thorsten

In the mean time I have sorted the problem by shear luck.

Solution is to reduce the Blur from 1 to 0.01 as shown below

That is nearly the same as switching to "none" right below (Pyramidal, Summed Area or none are selectable). That defines the Type and the spinner you turned down the strength.

I use 0.1 blur in most of my maps...I feel it lets max/viz cut some of the edge off of what my image sampling in vray has to handle, but I have never really tested this. For all I know, I could be causing the renders to take longer by processing the maps twice. Does vray prefer an unfiltered or a slightly pre-filtered map? Is there a way to turn off the filtering for procedural maps?
