  • Simple MaterialID Question

    Hi,

i have a simple scene with a bulb which i want to light. For this i want to add a glow effekt in post by render the tungsten filament on a seperate layer. When i try to use renderelements it doens't work, because the filament is behin the glas of the bulb. I tried the VrayObjectId, the VrayMaterialID and the new MultiMatteRenderelements, but i'm not able to get it on its own layer, it's always black, while objects which aren't behind glas work perfectly. What's the trick?

Maybe someone will make a videotutorial about all this stuff? I'd buy it...

    Thanks

Why not just render another pass? One for the image, and the other for just the filament's MatID channel.

If it's just the filament (plus whatever might mask it) and outputting just MatID, you can turn off all the textures, GI, everything... and render out just that really fast.
