  • license server web page

After patiently waiting 11 months for our dongles (thanks Zori) we finally now have a vray license server set up. Everything works fine except for one thing: the license usage html interface does not recognize that a Network license is engaged when network rendering (backburner). It registers correctly with Renderer, Interface, and DR license types. BB still works, it just doesn't register. Is this a known bug, or there a configuration setting we need to change?

BTW, at least in London, if you want dongles, you need to contact bluegfx. Waiting patiently will not help. Apparently they never received the dongle orders. They said my request last week was the first they heard about them!

Currently rendering through backburner (heh, I originially typed backburdener ) will not engage any licenses. The slaves will require a successful connection the server though.

As far as I know bluegfx should be aware of everything about the dongles and should also have a list of people to whom they need to send ones.

    Best regards,

Thanks Vlado. Yes, thats how I feel about BB as well sometime. Can't wait for DR on BB in the next RC.

That's what they told me. Maybe they have it sorted now.

        License server - Madness !

I have to say the whole license thing has me hopping mad. I think the Dongles where some sort of joke, I never got the memo about the punchline, and as for the vrlserver - we have three machines, the license we received when we upgraded one of the machine 1.5 ( was already using it fine ) was supposed to be for the three machines but it knock my machine off. My machine came back and I just installed Maya for Vray and my machine has just been knocked off again. Now I can't use Vray for 3dsmax or Maya and I am down for a day waiting to get a new code string - ( of course the time difference doesn't make things any easier) There has to be a better way - really - why can't we register online - why ?

          vlado,
in an interview awhile ago peter mentioned 24 hour tech support for v-ray. is that still going to happen? if so when? i've been in adams position before and it can be frustrating to wait a day or so to fix licensing issues.
          thanks,

Well, the dongles were supposed to deal with this particular issue (and they do work fine, in the large number of cases); once you have it, you can do what you want to your machines and still always have your license without the need to contact us.

24-hour support may be coming in the future, but I have no idea when.

            Best regards,
            Vlado
